Wakefield Regional Council Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) wants your input! Give us a like on Facebook at and make recommendations on youth projects that interest you!
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is made up of young people, aged 12 - 25, from within the Wakefield Regional Council area. The group is supported by a number of ‘young at heart’ mentors who offer their support and expertise to the young people.
The aims of the committee are:
  • To develop youth leadership and youth voice within the communities
  • Involve young people in decisions that affect their community
  • To provide a forum for discussion by young people for young people
  • To positively promote young people within the community
The focus of the group changes depending on the young people engaged at the time, with a current focus on project work in different communities.
Past events have included:
-       Short courses
-       Blue Light Discos
-       Paintballing
-       Health initiatives
-       Partnerships with other organisations
-       Environmental works
-       Youth Week Events
Young people and organisations can submit their interest to engage with the group or suggest future events or projects by contacting the Community Development Officer.
